Application for Graduation
All student doctors must apply to graduate. The graduation form is currently in development but is expected to become available by December 2021.
Students must fulfill all academic requirements for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree in order to receive their diploma at commencement. Students will be advised when their degree has been conferred by the Office of the Registrar.
ICOM is happy to provide the rental of your regalia, which includes a gown, hood, tam and tassel. Regalia can be ordered online through Herff Jones beginning in early December of 2021. Orders will be delivered to ICOM for pick-up on May 11, 2021. Academic honor cords and/or stoles will also be available for pick-up that same day.
Students will have the option to have an immediate family member participate in hooding during the ceremony. The family member must be a physician. Students may elect to purchase their hood for $80 through Herff Jones when ordering rental regalia.
Rented regalia must be returned at a designated booth in the Morrison Center after the ceremony. ICOM will be responsible for returning rented regalia to Herff Jones.
Students’ legal names, as they appear in the Student Information System, will be printed on the diplomas.
The Class of 2022 will have May 13, 2022 printed on the diploma. If a student has not met the graduation requirements, the date when those requirements have been met will be the date issued on the diploma. (See below regarding delayed graduation.)
Diplomas will be distributed after the commencement ceremony upon returning rented regalia.
If requirements are not met by the date of commencement, but will be compete within 30 days, a student may petition to walk with the cohort. The form to petition is under development.
Any student who has not satisfied the requirements for graduation by the commencement date will be conferred effective the date the student has completed all requirements and ICOM has received all grades. Upon confirmation of the earned diploma, it will be ordered by the Office of the Registrar.
