Jaimie Barker, who will be serving as a part-time Campus Security Officer, comes to the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine after a long and varied career in public service. Following high school Jaimie, a Boise native, served an LDS mission in the Hawaiian Islands. Upon his return home he enrolled at Boise State University. He was married and started his family a year later.
Jaimie worked with the Boise Police Department, the Idaho State Police and finally the majority of his career with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, where he was a Detective and Crime Scene Investigator. Jaimie assisted in developing protocols and guidelines for investigative teams on the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force. He was a lead investigator on three homicide investigations and an integral part of countless others. He retired from the Sheriff’s Office in April of 2015. By October he was working at the Ada County Coroner’s Office as a training Officer. He was promoted to Chief Deputy where he served for an additional 14 months until his re-retirement in April of 2018.
Jaimie is very excited to join the team at ICOM and looks forward to connecting with Faculty, Staff and Students.
