Gary Compton


Gary joins ICOM as the Director of Campus Security. 

Gary served as a police officer for 28 years, retiring from the Boise Police Department at the rank of Captain. Following his retirement from local law enforcement, Gary worked as a police advisor and trainer in the U.S. Department of State-Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) programs, working in Lebanon, Iraq, Nepal, Senegal, Togo, Rwanda, and Liberia.

Gary holds a BA in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University and is a graduate of Northwestern University-Center for Public Safety-School of Police Staff and Command. He has extensive training and experience in emergency management. Gary is an Idaho native and a U.S. Army veteran.

Gary and his wife Nancy enjoy travel, skiing, and camping in the mountains of Idaho. They have two daughters and five grandsons. Gary is very honored to serve as the Campus Security Director of Idaho's first medical school and seeks to ensure a safe and welcoming learning and working environment for students and employees.
