Doug joins ICOM as a full-time Campus Security Officer. 

Doug served as a police officer for 30 years, retiring from the Boise Police Department at the rank of Lieutenant. Following his retirement from local law enforcement, Doug worked as a police advisor with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Haiti. Other overseas training missions have included work as a police advisor/trainer in the countries of Jordan, Palestine and Serbia-Montenegro. 

Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest University. Doug is also a graduate of Northwestern University-Center for Public Safety-School of Police Staff and Command and Boston University's Senior Management Institute of Police. Doug is a certified Operation Section Chief (III) in All-Hazards Incident Management and a certified instructor for the State of Idaho in a multitude of topics (including Incident Command, Active-Shooter Response, Close Protection and Crowd Control). 

Doug is a third-degree black belt in the martial arts and has enjoyed teaching children karate through the Police Athletic League during his tenure as a school resource officer. Doug also enjoys teaching community self-defense classes. Doug is an avid traveler and has explored the world, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, riding camels at the pyramids of Egypt, hiking Machu Picchu, trekking the Great Wall of China and many backpacking treks through Europe. Although he loves to travel, Doug loves the Idaho life and enjoys calling Idaho his forever home. 

Doug is honored to serve as a Campus Security Officer of Idaho's first medical school and seeks to ensure a safe and welcoming learning and working environment for students and employees.
