COMLEX Pass Rates

All students must successfully pass COMLEX-USA Level 1, Level 2 CE, and Level 2 PE prior to graduation from an osteopathic medical school. The COM must publish to the public the COMLEX-USA Level 1, Level 2 CE, Level 2 PE, and Level 3 first time pass rate for all students in each class at the COM.

What Passing Level 1 Means

Passing COMLEX-USA Level 1 indicates that the candidate has demonstrated competence in the foundational biomedical sciences and osteopathic principles and related physician competency domains for osteopathic medical care of patients as required to enter supervised patient care settings and to continue lifelong learning.

What Passing Level 2 Means

Passing COMLEX-USA Level 2-CE indicates that the candidate has demonstrated competence in the clinical sciences and osteopathic principles and related physician competency domains for osteopathic medical care of patients as required to enter supervised patient care settings and to continue lifelong learning.

What Passing Level 3 Means

Passing COMLEX-USA Level 3 indicates that the candidate has demonstrated competence in the foundational competency domains required for generalist physicians to deliver safe and effective osteopathic medical care of patients as required for entry into the unsupervised practice of osteopathic medicine, and to continue lifelong learning and practice-based learning and improvement.

Graduates of the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine participate in the National Residency Matching Program’s (NRMP) Main Residency Match. After four years of dedicated study in ICOM’s rigorous osteopathic medicine curriculum, the graduates will now train in their chosen specialty for the next three to seven years.
