A snapshot of thriving south Meridian growth

Meridian Planning Supervisor Bill Parsons made a map of future south Meridian developments for Wednesday's town hall at Hillsdale Elementary.

The map was crammed full of projects. Commercial and residential growth is booming in the area between Eagle Road and Ten Mile Road to the east and west, and between Interstate 84 and Amity Road to the north and south.

In December, the city of Meridian annexed 1,322 acres along its southern border, an area of impact that has historically been a point of disagreement between Meridian and Kuna.

Hundreds of acres in south Meridian are being developed into single-family subdivisions, Parsons said, and two apartment projects are coming online. The High Point on Overland recently completed 190 units, and the Silverstone Apartments — more than 300 units by the Overland/Eagle roads intersection — have been approved by City Council.

“Our boundary is growing a lot more rapidly than we've seen in previous years,” Parsons said.
