Marlin Trainer, DO
Marlin Trainer, DO is extremely excited to be part of the outstanding ICOM team. He has lived locally since 2002 and has extensive clinical experience in Emergency Medicine of over 20 years. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Trainer grew up all over the southwest, moving frequently. He attended California State Polytechnic University in Pomona where he completed premedical studies and obtained an undergraduate degree in zoology. He then attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific followed by 12 years of military service with the Army. He completed an Emergency Medicine residency at Darnall Army Medical Center, Ft. Hood, Texas.
The Army brought Dr. Trainer to wonderful El Paso, Texas for several years where he served as the ED Director, Trauma Service Director and ran EMS for over 1 million lives. He brought his family to Boise, Idaho after completion of his military service and joined an amazing group of EM physicians. He has since served on the board of a prominent local health system as well as the board of a large physician group, an ED medical director, and on several committees integral to the function of the health system and his group. He has also owned and operated a successful local urgent care and primary care practice in the valley serving primarily the teachers of Meridian.
Dr. Trainer has trained many medical students, allied healthcare students, and residents since graduating medical school. He has had many fantastic interactions with medical students, enjoys teaching and is looking forward to continuing to help educate, train and mentor the osteopathic physicians of the future
