Rena Wear serves as Assistant Controller/Bursar for the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration Management and Accounting in 2004, graduating Summa Cum Laude.  In 2005 she passed the CPA exam and holds an active CPA license in the State of Idaho.

Mrs. Wear has a diverse business and accounting background.  She is the proud spouse of a newly retired military member and their multiple moves afforded her the opportunity to grow her skills in varied environments. She has provided out-sourced comptroller services to small businesses, small business finance management, worked with non-profits, endowments, and government entities.

Two years were spent with the US Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, where her work in Internal Controls and Audit Remediation lead to the Department of Homeland Security passing their first financial audit since its origination after the terrorist attacks of 9-11.

Mrs. Wear’s favorite prior position was in Washington DC for the Smithsonian Institution.  As the Endowment Accountant, she managed the general ledger and endowment reporting for the Smithsonian’s $1.1 Billion Endowment fund.  She experienced firsthand the importance of philanthropic giving that allows the Smithsonian to prosper and provide world class exhibits to be enjoyed with free admission.

An Idaho native, Mrs. Wear is aware of the tremendous impact ICOM will have in the local community and is excited to be part of it.  She has two college-aged daughters, a 19 year-old cat and sleepy ol’ blue heeler, Hank.
