Melinda Smith serves as Simulation Center Coordinator for the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. After receiving a BA from California State University, Long Beach, Ms. Smith began a 25-year career in Emergency Medical Services, with a focus on Education and Field Operations. Her experience with Quality Improvement and Risk Management validated the significance of patient-centered care and the value in active listening. She believes Simulation, used in conjunction with didactic learning, is the most effective tool to teach active listening.
In 2017, Melinda relocated to Boise and accepted a position in the Simulation Department with the School of Nursing at Idaho State University. She is excited to join the ICOM team and looks forward to contributing to the education of medical students, who, as innovative physicians, will heal and enrich the lives of Idahoans.
